Tour the Prairie

This 15-acre park is located on the shores of both Pearl and Loon lakes. It is extremely interesting because of its combination of woodland and open space. A creek runs through the center of the park and serves as the outlet from Pearl Lake, which enters into Loon Lake. This natural variation in landscape results in an unending opportunity for recreation.

Facilities include: picnic area, restroom, shelter house with fireplace and electricity, pressure water system, footbridge, grills, tables, playground equipment, designated handicapped-accessible campsites and docks, and an asphalt bike trail (walking/biking trail connecting to Robertson Park was constructed in 2006) connecting to the Dickinson County, Iowa, trail system (55 miles). Campground facilities: 30 trailer campsites with electricity (20-amp, 30-amp and 50-amp), pressure water system, rest room with flush toilets, hot showers, and playground equipment. Dump station is located at Robertson Park.

This area was surveyed by the Minnesota Historical Society and is believed to have been inhabited during the woodland cultural period which dates back to 200 B.C. Both state and federal funds have been used for acquisition and development of this park.
